The Leprechaun franchise goes back to 1993, when Jennifer Anistion got to experience how much balefulness a leprechaun (Warwick Davis) can summon.
After that, five more movies quickly spawned, from the hands of Hollywood, which took our green killer on a journey that reached all the way into space.
Now, in Leprechaun: Origins, he has his shiny buckled shoes safely back on the ground in his home turf – the verdant Irish countryside – where four young backpackers will be painfully aware of his sinister nature.
Besides being a reboot of the franchise, it’s also the feature debut for the VFX guru and director Zach Lipovsky. It’s also the first movie where the leprechaun isn’t played by Warwick Davis; instead we’ll find Dylan Postl (WWF SmackDown!) inside the green costume this time.
Thanks tothe warm welcome of the movie at Comic-Con earlier this summer, Leprechaun: Origins will see a limited release, starting this weekend on August 22. The movie will also be available on VoD on August 26, followed by a Blu-ray release on September 30, 2014.
