On August 30, Stevan Mena’s Bereavement, the anticipated prequel to the 2005 cult hit Malevolence is released on Blu-ray and DVD, starring Michael Biehn, John Savage, Alexandra Daddario, and Brett Rickaby.

In Bereavement, Allison Miller (Alexandra Daddario) goes to the rural countryside, to live with her Uncle Jonathan (Michael Biehn). While Allison explores the surroundings, she stumbles upon a farmhouse, where things are far from all right. Before she knew it, her curiosity had stomped into a hornet’s nest of evil and despair, and there can only be two outcomes: bereavement or death!
Director Steve Mena has said the following about Bereavement, “The only way to describe it is like an epic horror story. It’s more in the vein of The Shining, whereas the original was kind of like Halloween or Friday the 13th. Bereavement is more of a character study.”
