Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale is a Finnish horror movie, which takes the myth of Santa Claus out for a really disturbing spin, which looks way too twisted to withstand.

This tale, written by Jalmari Helander, is set at the Korvatunturi mountain. Where an archeological expedition just has open a grave, which has been hidden deep inside the mountain, releasing Santa Claus himself in the process.

Soon children start to mysteriously disappear in the nearby village and it seems that Santa is not that cozy old grandfather we wish to believe he is. A young boy and his father, with the help of fellow hunters, set out to capture Santa.

After catching Santa, the group tries to convince the company responsible for the archaeological dig, to buy Santa from them. However, they didn’t count on Santa’s elves and they are determined to free their leader.

The movie has gotten mostly positive reviews, calling it dark, creepy and entertaining, with qualities to become a future cult classic. Currently the movie has a staggering rating of 7,6 at IMDB.

Check out the trailer below and see if it’s just the kind of movie that will get you in the right Christmas spirit! Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale is playing in theaters right now!

Dare we guess that, if it’s just half as good as people say it’s, that we get a Hollywood remake of it by Christmas next year?
