Mock documentaries, can be rather scary and eerie, if they’re done well, like The Blair Witch Project, The Fourth Kind, REC and more recently the phenomena Paranormal Activity 1 & 2.
Now, it looks like The Weinstein Company has decided to jump on the popular mockumentary trend, with their launch of the sci-fi thriller Apollo 18, based on an award winning screenplay written by Brian Miller.
The 3D and CGI artist Trevor Cawood is set to direct, making this his directing debut for a feature. He previously works includes movies like The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions and TV-shows like Dark Angel, Smallville and Stargate SG-1.
The only thing known about the plot, at this time, is that it centers on new found recordings from Apollo 18’s secret voyage to the moon, which reveals new and disturbing evidence of other life forms.
Also, it seems that The Weinstein Company is in a bit of a hurry to get this movie out there, since production is scheduled to start next month (December) and the premiere is slated to be sometime in March, next year.
