I cannot help to wonder if Tom Six isn’t in fact the secret lovechild between H.P Lovecraft and Clive Barker. Who else could have come up with such a macabre and gut-wrenching story, yet still so weird and fascinating that you cannot help yourself from wanting to view it?
The plot in The Human Centipede is twisted, so twisted that it makes it to one-of-a-kind movie. It revolves around two American girls, who are on a road trip through Europe. One night, their car brakes down, in the middle of the woods, and they head to a nearby house, to ask for help.
Little do they know that the man, living in the house, is a highly demented surgeon, with a bizarre mission. He is obsessed with the thought of connecting humans, one to the next, from anus to mouth, to create a human centipede. To the two girls horror they realize, that they have walked out of the frying pan into the fire, as their bodies are soon to become part of this ghastly puzzle.
I believe that Six, has managed to create a horror movie that, by far, stands out from the crowd of horror movies today. The movie has also received some attention at a few festivals, as it was awarded with the jurors prize at the Austin Fantastic Fest festival and Best Picture at the 2009 edition of Screamfest.
In addition, Dieter Laser, who plays the demented surgeon Dr. Heiter, received the Best Actor prize at
Austin Fantastic Fest, as well. Which isn’t surprising, since just seeing him in the trailer, sends chills down my spine.
You can enjoy this one-of-a-kind trip down the dark corridors of weird science, via Video On Demand on April 28. And if this movie isn’t enough, to turn your belly inside out, Tom Six is working on a sequel, logically titled, The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence).
