Splice – The Next Step in the Evolution of Horror

Splice is a Sci-Fi horror, from the Cube director Vincenzo Natali and the screenwriters Doug Taylor and Antoinette Terry Bryant, which received generally positive reviews since it was screened at the Sundance Film Festival, in January.

The movie centers on two rebellious scientists Elsa and Clive, who disobeys the ethical and legal boundaries with their genetically-engineered experiments.

In their latest experiment, they manage to splice together human and animal DNA, with a both fascinating and shocking result – a new organism. They name their creation, Dren, which rapidly grows from a deformed female infant, into a beautiful but deadly human chimera.

In the leads we’ll see the acclaimed actors Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley, as the two scientists and the organism Dren is done by Abigail Chu and Delphine Chanéac.

Splice goes up in the theaters on June 4 and below you can see the trailer, which I think looks pretty good. However, after reading various opinions about the movie, I think that this will be one of these movies that you either like, or you don’t, but I have a feeling that if you enjoy movies like The Fly, then you would happily engulf Splice as well, I think.
