Just reading the line up for Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island and stumble upon names like, Ben Kingsley, Max von Sydow, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michelle Williams and Jackie Earle Haley, makes my eyes ache of anticipation.
After looking at the trailer, I belive that if it’s just half as good as it looks, it will certainly be another Scorsese classic, with one or two Oscar nominations as well.
The movie is set in 1954 at Shutter Island a hospital housing patients that are criminally insane and so dangerous and damaged that no other facility can manage them.
After a female patient managed to escape from the hospital, the promising U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio), is put on the case.
Teddy, with the help of his smart investigation skills, soon digs up a solid lead, but then the hospital staff becomes secretive and refuses to help him, with the investigation. A storm breaks out on the Island, which exacerbates his assignment further, in addition to that, a riot breaks out and more lethal patients’ escapes.
Trapped on the island, surrounded with deadly insane people and a hostile hospital staff that knows more than they tell, Teddy begins to doubt everything around him, his partner, his memory, as well as his own sanity.
The best part is that we only have to wait until February 19, before we can see if DiCaprio can unravel the mystery on Shutter Island.
