The Crazies is a remake of George Romero’s horror classic from 1973 that I really look forward to see, as it smash into the theaters on February 26, 2010.
This the Sahara director, Breck Eisner has directed this remake, which stars Timothy Olyphant (A Perfect Getaway, Hitman), Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill, The Surrogates) and Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th, Mr. Brooks).
The story revolves around David Dutton (Timothy Olyphant), who is the sheriff in a town filled with law abiding residents. This abruptly changes one day, as a person attends to a school baseball game, armed with a loaded shotgun, ready to fire.
Next, another resident traps his wife and son inside a closet, before he sets his house on fire, thus burning them alive.
Within days, David Button sees his, once so calm town, transforming into a living hell, and the residents turning into depraved, blood-thirsty psychopaths, lurking in the darkness with guns and knives, ready to slash down everyone who cross their way. Button realizes that something must have infected the residents, driving them insane.
As the government learns about the situation, they set in deathly force against the people in the town, and put the town into quarantine, letting no one out or in.
Button and his pregnant wife Judy (Radha Mitchell), and a few other sane people, finds themselves trapped and together they must fight for their survival, a fight that turns out to be a bloody and horrifying one.
