2012 New Japanese Trailer

When I first heard that Roland Emmerich would direct another disaster themed movie, my first thought was, is he going to make a sequel to, The Day After Tomorrow, Godzilla or Independence Day. This was not the case.

This time Emmerich found his disaster in the doomsday predictions surrounding the year 2012.

The reason that some people believe that the world will seize to exists, as we know it in December 2012, is that the Mayan calendar stops there. However, there has been numerous of similar predictions over the years, and we are still here, so I would not feel that anxious about it, if I were you.

I guess that the Mayas stopped creating their calendar; just because they thought that, it was simply enough.

However, in 2012 the movie, the apocalypse is in full throttle and by looking at Emmerich previous movies, we could expect to see some awesome special effects, as the doomsday sweeps over the world, leaving just a few survivors, played by Amanda Peet, John Cusack, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Woody Harrelson.

The plot, typical for an Emmerich movie, is those survivors and their struggle to bring life forward, after the devastating apocalypse that forever changed the world.

The plan was to release 2012 this summer, but due to a busy summer schedule, the makers think the movie will have a better chance to success in November 13, instead.

The trailer below posted by, Trailer Addict is the Japanese version, and it includes new footage and some dialog, compared to the first teaser trailer, which I thought just showed off the special effects. This trailer gives us a lot more to chew on, and it contains some impressive effects, as well.

I look forward to 2012, since I love those vivid visual effects that are significant in all of Emmerich movies, and they usually provide some undemanding entertainment, just as Emmerich intend them to be, or as he put it himself,  enjoyable “popcorn” entertainment.
